More about the Characters, and their own stories
All of the characters are effectively trapped by circumstance within the same space-time and location, as a result of a freak occurrence – 5 Cubes arrived in 5 Different universes at exactly the same instance which caused a major disruption in the space-time continuum at a specific singularity. All the characters are basically the same individual, but are from different universes/times and possess different skillsets. What has occurred is that they are all trapped inside the cube’s multi-dimensional frame, together with a single complete cube. In order to be able to free themselves they have to be able to communicate with the cube and open pathways for each of them to return to their respective universes and times. Each must learn how to communicate with each other and with the cube, effectively becoming a singular multi-dimensional entity. Key tasks relate to the creation of a “Chant” by Hrothgar and Rinzen that activates resonance with the cube enabling a channel for communication to be opened. This enables RKT525, together with Arkatis and Ra Heratke, to link into the cube and open access to the data-mine of the Black cubes. Ultimately, they have to summon a Sentinel/Monolith to build the pathways back to their relative universes/times.
Hrothgar Dalbodsson c.840 Iceland (equiv) - Snæland Universe 1 – Sami Soothsayer and Shaman Was a member of one of the first Viking voyages of discovery that found Snæland (Iceland). Sole survivor of the voyage, he integrated with the Innuit travellers who infrequently landed on the Islands when hunting from Greenland, and learnt his Shamanism from them. He was born in the equivalent area of the Sami people in the very far north of Norway, where there was a history of Shamanism and Soothsaying. He has trained as a warrior, but is by nature more of a Pacifist.
RHrtk (pronounced Ra Heratke) c. 3425 – Egypt (equiv) – Kmt (pronounced Kemet) - Universe 2 – Astral Technician and Pilot In this universe, the Egyptian empires did not collapse, but absorbed other cultures and became the dominant culture of the equivalent of Earth. They advanced scientifically at a phenomenal rate and managed to link aspects of Ancient Egyptian Mythology with science. RHrtk’s speciality is the ability to analyse Astral tomography (the projection of mental emanations into space) to derive position in space-time. He is also an experienced pilot of a multitude of different types of transport. His clothing actually contains a significant amount of equipment that could be equated to a computer within its structure.
Gyurme Rinzen c. 561 Bod - Chung Kuo Universe 3 – Temple musician and throat singer Rinzen (in this culture the first name comes second) has been involved at the temple from a very young age. He is an accomplished musician and Throat-singer.
Arkatis c. 250BC (equiv) Greece (equiv) – Hellas - Universe 4 – Philosopher and Mathematician Student of Zeno of Citium and later of Archimedes of Syracuse. Highly respected free-thinker, known for his ability to break down seemingly unsolvable issues by analyzing the structures inherent within a problem.
RKT525 c.4245 (equiv) area 55 - Kepler 186f – Universe 5 – Systems Specialist RKT525 lives on a planet that was originally inhabited as a launching-site for deeper space exploration following the decline in the survivability of life on Earth. Kepler 186f now has several artificial orbiting moons, all of which are now inhabited by senior personnel within Kepler’s meritocracy. Whilst names have been reduced to basic initials and numerals, individuality is encouraged (under a certain degree of control), as this helps to reduce the probability of intellectual stagnation. RKT525 is a highly-accomplished Systems specialist, and is never found without his communications/AI equipment, which is effectively hard-wired into him (he has a double spine – one his structural/biological, the other a bio-mech surface implant which links into his biological. This gives him heightened senses). Technological advances in this universe enabled bio-mechanical implanting to become both ultra-safe and effective. Regular upgrading is done without surgical intervention, as the bio-mechanics have been combined with 5th generation AI.
